Basics

Profitability

Revenue from selling electricity

The Renewable Energy Law (German: Erneuerbare-Energien-Gesetz, EEG) regulates fixed tariffs for electricity fed into the network. Thus, profitability is guaranteed by law. This is a decisive step in the right direction. The economic utilisation of renewable resources and specific energy crops is facilitated by the amendment of the EEG and the recently announced first-ever increase of the compensation for the use of renewable resources up to 5 MW (by 0.06€ or 0.04€ per kWh) as well as additional incentives for innovations and energy recovery. The contribution margin per hectare can be covered with the sales revenue of electricity and heat. This amendment is expected to be ratified in 2012.

Energy Recovery and Replacement of Fossil Fuels

It is necessary to design a concept for energy recovery specifically suited to the location of each biopower plant. All kinds of fossil fuels are to be replaced.

The facility's auxiliary circuits aside, there is a large quantity of thermic energy at our disposal when using CHP-technology. Possible uses include:

- district heating

- dehydration of crops

- green houses

- cooling units

Benefits to the Region

Running a biogas plant requires qualified personnel:

monitoring, operating, service and maintenance work

It creates permanent jobs.

Investments are primarily made by local companies. Preparatory and cement work is done by local contractors which contributes to the security and preservation of jobs.

It improves the standing of agriculture in the local community, boosts the quality of life in that region and encourages tourism.

The construction of a biogas plant contributes to the competitive position of German agriculture and increases the attractiveness of our rural areas.

Improvement of Liquid Manure Quality via Fermentation

Fermentation contributes to positive professional agricultural land use. Anaerobic fermentation of (liquid) manure has a number of positive effects on the soil.
